The Oman Military Hospital provides comprehensive medical and healthcare services for individuals of all ages with a wide range of specialties to offer. Our team envisioned, designed and developed a patient-friendly and accessible check-in kiosk machine for the Oman Military Hospital (Medical City for Military and Medical services) to automate and streamline patient experience.

The problem statement

  • Out-patients experienced considerable waiting times at the reception during the patient-check-in time.
  • New patient registration and appointment booking became a time-consuming affair.
  • A large number of patients waiting at the reception resulted in congestion, thus impacting overall patient experience.

Solution offered

Patients visit hospitals for relief from ailments, pain and other medical issues. And therefore, making them wait for long is not at all justifiable.

Our team developed a highly intuitive and functional hospital check-in kiosk with a responsive touchscreen and integrated payment facility to automate the patient check-in and appointment-booking tasks.

A typical hospital facility is visited by people from all walks of life, and therefore, our team considered both the UX and UI aspects of the kiosk machine. We developed the check-in kiosk with the preconception that even a layperson with a basic understanding of technology would be able to navigate it with ease.

Results achieved

  • The implementation of the patient check-in kiosk reduced the Queue reduction time (QRT) by 30% which improved the overall patient experience.
  • A new patient can easily perform registration after entering the patient’s Civil ID and personal credentials on the kiosk touchscreen.
  • Self-service appointment-booking facility instilled much confidence among the patients, as they could easily book appointments bypassing the time-consuming booking calls or reception-based bookings.
  • The patients can easily select the desired department followed by the preferred doctor, date and time slots, and proceed towards payment. Once the payment is through, the appointment is confirmed. And all it takes is just few taps on the kiosk screen.
